TECAR THERAPY

Accelerating the body’s natural recovery ability

What is TECAR Therapy?

TECAR Therapy, a form of diathermy, is an advanced non-invasive treatment that uses high-frequency energy to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. By applying deep heat to tissues, TECAR diathermy promotes increased blood circulation, reduces inflammation, and accelerates recovery. It's widely used in physiotherapy and sports medicine to treat muscle pain, joint stiffness, and sports injuries, helping patients return to their activities faster with improved mobility and reduced discomfort.

How does TECAR therapy work?

The heat-induced vasodilation, an opening of blood cells to allow increased blood flow, maximises the exchange of substances resulting in drainage of the inflamed area and an influx of reparative cells.

TECAR therapy also has pain-resolving properties through its stimulation of endorphin production.

By increasing your body’s tissue temperature, it encourages more blood circulation to the injured area. Your blood has all the good things in it to promote healing, such as white blood cells, which help fight infection and oversee repairs.

TECAR Therapy can be applied to various conditions, from muscle strains to joint stiffness, accelerating the healing process and enhancing mobility without the need for invasive procedures.

How do we apply TECAR therapy?

Our experienced physiotherapist will smooth some conductive cream over the area to be treated then move a hand-held device around that part of your body.

The therapeutic heat penetrates deep into the tissue and you will experience a pleasantly warm feeling. The heat induces vasodilation, an opening of your blood vessels, and stimulates the lymphatic system to dissolve adhesions in the tissue.

During the treatment, the therapist will ask you to score the level of warmth you feel. This feedback helps the therapist adjust the machine's energy to ensure optimal results.

What happens after the therapy?

After TECAR Therapy, many patients experience immediate relief from pain and improved mobility due to the increased circulation and reduced inflammation in the treated areas. It’s common to feel a sense of warmth or mild soreness, which typically fades within a few hours. Depending on the condition being treated, some people may notice long-term benefits such as enhanced flexibility, reduced muscle tension, and faster recovery.
